Jessica Simpson And Nick Lachey Split |
Apparently
the honeymoon is over.
After a highly publicized romance, a
reality-series marriage and eventually
tabloid rumors of strife, Jessica Simpson
and Nick Lachey officially announced their
split on Wednesday to US Weekly magazine.
"After three years of marriage, and careful
thought and consideration, we have decided
to part ways," the couple said in a joint
statement released to the magazine. "This is
the mutual decision of two people with an
enormous amount of respect and admiration
for each other. We hope that you respect our
privacy during this difficult time."
Rumors about tension between the two had
grown louder and louder in recent months. US
Weekly even reported that the couple had
quietly split just over one month ago.
Officially, however, spokespeople for the
two flatly denied a split was in the cards.
Simpson and Lachey were married in fall
2002. Their starry-eyed love and down-home
personas (she the bumbling but lovable
blonde, he the Rust-Belt everyman looking
for ways to keep her spending in check) made
the reality show chronicling their first
days of marriage, "Newlyweds," a breakout
hit for MTV. Simpson was able to parlay that
success into renewed interest in her music
career, and also into a now-budding stint in
Hollywood.

In Town To Party |
Is Nick
Lachey and Jessica Simpson's marriage on the
rocks? Onlookers say it didn't look that way
last week, when the couple celebrated
Lachey's 32nd birthday in his hometown of
Cincinnati.
On Lachey's birthday, Nov. 9, the couple
dined at Montgomery Inn at the Boathouse
with about 20 family members and friends in
a private room upstairs, says assistant
manager Alexis Gregory.The party included
Justin Jeffre, Lachey's bandmate from 98°
and a former Cincinnati mayoral candidate,
and a fraternity brother of Lachey's from
Miami University.
Gregory says she couldn't tell whether
Simpson was wearing her wedding ring. But
restaurant staff reported that Lachey had
his arm around her during dinner, Gregory
says. "They just seemed like a normal
couple," Gregory says.
Lachey ate the Inn's famous ribs (the king
slab, the largest portion), sweet potato and
salad - yes, he wore a bib - and drank
Miller Lites, Gregory says. Simpson, who had
the pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato,
salad and pinot grigio, picked up the $750
tab and left a $600 tip, all on her American
Express card.
Lachey and Simpson stayed at the
Cincinnatian Hotel, according to Star
magazine and E! Online. The celebration
continued into Thursday, when Lachey,
Simpson and friends ate lunch at J.
Alexander's at Rookwood Commons in Norwood.
Lachey had his usual - the rattlesnake
pasta, washed down with more Miller Lites -
while Simpson had a chicken sandwich, says
manager Ben Strum. Lachey wasn't wearing his
wedding ring, Strum says, citing the keen
eyes of the female staff.
Simpson is scheduled to return to her
husband's hometown Dec. 5 to perform at
American Financial Group's private Christmas
party at Music Hall.

Jessica
Simpson has spoken to her fans about the
best ways of getting rid of stress.
Teen Hollywood says that Simpson, who has
recently been subject to rumours about the
state of her marriage to 98 Degrees singer
Nick Lachey, said her top tip was to write
down your feelings, because it stops her
from feeling like "pushing everything back
until I explode."
As well as this, Simpson says that "talking
about my feelings with friends" helps, as it
provides her with a "way...to know myself
and my problems."

Jessica
Simpson has branded sister Ashlee "stupid"
after she allegedly almost burnt her house
down.
The sexy star was overheard bitching about
her younger pop star sister to her mother,
Tina, at a recent awards show, in New York.
According to America's New York Post
newspaper, as she walked down the red
carpet, Jessica was overheard saying: "Mum,
Ashlee is so stupid. She left the popcorn in
the microwave and almost burned the house
down."
The 'Dukes Of Hazzard' beauty has also been
voicing her concern about Ashlee's wild
partying.
Jessica, whose marriage to Nick Lachey is
reportedly on the rocks, is worried her
younger sibling is going out too much and
wants her to slow down for the sake of her
career.
Last month, Ashlee was spotted smooching
with two mystery men on the same night.
The sexy singer was celebrating the launch
of her new album 'I Am Me' at exclusive New
York bar the PM Lounge when she was seen
getting frisky with the pair of hunks.
According to reports, Ashlee was canoodling
with one guy earlier in the evening, before
moving on to her second conquest later in
the night.

problems by writing them down.
The Dukes of Hazzard actress told the Daily
Star, "It's a way for me to know myself and
my problems. If I don't do this, I'll push
everything back until I explode."
If this method isn't successful, Simpson has
another way to sort through her issues.
"Sometimes it helps to talk about my
feelings with friends," she added.

Jessica Simpson's boots are
made for walkin', but her
private life isn't made for
talkin'.
The singer/actress was
promoting her
clothing/accessories line on
Tuesday night's (Nov. 8)
"Access Hollywood," but when
conversation veered into
non-fashion territory, her
handler shut down reporter
Billy Bush.
After some joking, harmless
flirting and admiring
Simpson's much-touted
cleavage, Bush addressed her
recent comments in Teen
People that she's been
seeing a therapist -- likely
angling to get a line on the
state of her rumored rocky
marriage to Nick Lachey.
"You went into therapy,"
Bush asked. "What was behind
that decision -- because a
lot of people do."
"I mean, hmm, I don't wanna,"
she responded. "Everybody's
asking that question."
At this point, Simpson's
off-camera publicist jumped
in and reprimanded, "I would
stay away from that."
This trend continued for the
entire interview, even
though Bush tried to defend
his job, saying that his
position was to ask these
questions. The publicist
only reiterated the main
reason for the interview:
"This is just about the
line, and that's all we're
talking about. That's why
we're here today. I need you
to stay with that."
Bush and Simpson then made a
good show of switching gears
to admire the footwear she
brought in, including boots
inspired by her "Dukes of
Hazzard" character Daisy
Duke. After the shoe chat,
Bush decided to discuss
Simpson's recent charity
work with Operation Smile,
for which she traveled to
Africa. Once again, Bush was
shut down when trying to get
more details about the trip.
"That's it," said the
publicist. "No other
questions."
Simpson just offered a small
smile, and added, "Sorry. I
gotta listen to my peeps."
According to Bush's blog, he
says that later he received
a couple of scathing emails
from the singer's
dad/manager Joe Simpson
accusing Bush of being
"untruthful" after he agreed
to keep the interview
impersonal.

NEWLYWEDS
star JESSICA SIMPSON is facing a barrage of
criticism from humanitarian agencies after
she allegedly interrupted a 10-day charity
visit to Kenya with a $1,500 (GBP833)
safari, despite insisting she was too ill to
visit local children.
The singer reportedly spent just two days
with Operation Smile - a charity repairing
facial deformities in children - before
embarking on a recreational trip of the same
length in the Masai Mara National Reserve
last week (begs31OCT05).
A representative for the charity says,
"Jessica got sick, like people do, and
couldn't get out of bed."
But the excuse has been challenged by a
hotel insider who alleges, "Simpson was not
ill, no doctor was called out to see her."
Referring to the safari, an Operation Smile
spokesperson says, "It was scheduled
downtime."
The reality TV star's trip is thought to
have cost a staggering $12,500 (GBP6,944).

sat down with Access Hollywood's Billy Bush
over the weekend?
And while that's fine, Billy also wanted to
address the elephant in the room — the
status of her marriage with Nick.
But when he did, it led to one interesting
interview.
Jessica Simpson is very excited about the

blame her for wanting to talk all about them
when she sat down with Access Hollywood's

Singer,
actress and reality TV star Jessica Simpson
says all the rumors swirling about her
marriage to Nick Lachey sent her to a
therapist.
"I respect knowledge of the psyche," she
told Teen People magazine. "I would be a
therapist (if I weren't an entertainer)."
Simpson said she is still with Lachey, but
constant media talk of a marital split can't
help but affect their relationship. "You
can't not be affected by it," Simpson said.
"Communication between us is very important.
Without it, the voices in the head start.
It's hard to reflect upon (our
relationship), but that's because the
story's not done yet.
"Hopefully our story will continue for the
rest of our lives, like what we vowed --
through sickness and in health. At the end
of the day, you've gotta find happiness. I
believe that we'll achieve it."

Saw Therapist Over Rumors |
Jessica
Simpson says the relentless gossip about her
marriage to Nick Lachey drove her to visit a
therapist.
"Yes I have," the singer-actress tells Teen
People in its December-January issue, on
newsstands Friday. "I respect knowledge of
the psyche. I would be a therapist if I
weren't an entertainer."
Jessica, 25, posed for the cover of the
magazine with her sister, Ashlee. Both talk
about the difficult challenges of the past
year.
Jessica, who had a starring role in "The
Dukes of Hazzard" movie this summer, has
been the queen of the tabloids this year —
much of the coverage dissecting the marriage
of the "Newlyweds" couple. The pair have
denied persistent rumors of a split.
"Hopefully mine and Nick's story will
continue for the rest of our lives, like
what we vowed, through sickness and in
health."
Ashlee, 21, recently released her second
album, "I Am Me," and it debuted at the top
of the charts. But she has still had to live
down her embarrassing lip-synch disaster on
"Saturday Night Live" last year.
"Yeah I messed up in front of everybody,"
she says. (Last month, Ashlee revisited the
scene of her musical flub, performing on "SNL"
— really live, this time.)
However, she adds: "I love to sing. It's a
joy to me. I don't do it for anyone else — I
do it for me.
"I've had to learn that my voice is the most
important one. Otherwise, I'll drown in what
everyone wants me to be."
