29 Dec 2005  -  Divorce Drama? Jessica Simpson Having Second Thoughts
Jessica Simpson is having second thoughts about her divorce from Nick Lachey -- she wants the judge assigned to the case removed.
In legal papers filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the pop star requested judge Michael Lindfield be replaced because she believes he's biased. In the documents, obtained by Extra, the pop star's attorney states, ``The Judge is prejudiced against Petitioner (Jessica Simpson) and/or Petitioner's attorney. He and/or Petitioner cannot have a fair and impartial trial.''
A source close to the case insists the papers filed were a formality, and that Simpson and Lachey are in negotiations to have a private judge hear the case.
Simpson filed for divorce last week after splitting from Lachey a month ago.

"She's happy to have a house that's hers," an unnamed source told the magazine. "This is the first time she's making her own decisions."

Simpson and Lachey starred in their own MTV reality show, Newlyweds. They also hosted a 2004 television special, The Nick & Jessica Variety Hour.

Simpson's 2004 album In This Skin went platinum, and she released a Christmas album last year titled ReJoyce The Christmas Album.

21 Dec 2005  -  Jessica Simpson Says Her Final Farewells
The TV celebrity show "Extra" is reporting that Jessica Simpson and her husband, former boy-band singer Nick Lachey, said their final farewell at her folks' home in Encino, Calif., before she filed the divorce papers on Friday.

The heart-tugging 1 1/2-hour session sent the couple off to Splitsville with the intention of staying friends, according to "Extra's" sources. And just to show how civilized the whole thing is, Jessica is ready to divvy up their assets 50-50, the show says. The couple had no prenuptial agreement and in the petition, Simpson asked the court not to grant Lachey spousal support. The 25-year-old singer-actress earned more than $30 million last year.

19 Dec 2005  -  Jessica Simpson Files For Divorce From Nick Lachey
Jessica Simpson, whose split with Nick Lachey was announced last month, filed for divorce on Friday (December 16).

Simpson, filing under her legal name of Jessica Simpson Lachey, cited "irreconcilable differences," according toa public-information officer at the Los Angeles Superior Court.

In the paperwork, Simpson requested Lachey not be awarded spousal support and listed their community property as unknown at this time. It will be amended at a later date.

According to California law, money earned during a marriage is equally divided between the spouses unless there was a prenuptial agreement beforehand.

Simpson and Lachey married in October 2002 and used their marriage, via the MTV reality series "Newlyweds," to catapult their careers.

After months of tabloid speculation, the couple announced on November 23 that with "careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways."

Lachey has since signed on to play a newlywed in a sitcom pilot for the WB.

15 Dec 2005  -  America Says Jessica Was Hottest In 2005
When asked "Who was hottest in 2005?", 45.77% of voters claimed that it was Jessica Simpson who created the most heat in '05. In the course of just one year, this blonde 25-year old Texan made her acting debut in the 'Dukes of Hazzard', released an album entitled 'In This Skin' that reached triple-platinum status, and ended her 3-year marriage with hubby and former 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey. Plus, she did it all while keeping herself in the headlines and on the covers of tabloids and high fashion magazines alike.

This finding reflects results from the ‘Are You Hot?’ quiz (www.ruhotquiz.net) from Chatterbean, the internet's leading resource for personal trend information.

In order to determine who was hottest in 2005, web users who visited the ‘Are You Hot?’ quiz on Chatterbean.com during the month of November of 2005 were asked to choose the hottest person among four celebrity nominees. Hotness is not necessarily gender-specific, so two men and two women were listed as options. Second place hotness went to British import and recent 'Elizabethtown' star Orlando Bloom (28), who received 28.53% of the voters, while actress/singer/party girl Lindsay Lohan (19), earned third place with just 17.71% of the vote. 'Desperate Housewives' lawn mowing hunk Jesse Metcalfe (27), came in at a distant fourth place when only 7.99% of voters recognized his hotness.

Chatterbean.com attracts thousands of users every day to response-driven websites that cover trends in personal growth, fashion, food, music, parenting, home ownership, education and more. Chatterbean and its associated websites can be found at www.chatterbean.com

14 Dec 2005  -  Ludacris Urges Simpson To Get Bottom Boost
JESSICA SIMPSON needs to start taking shots to boost her buttocks, according to rapper LUDACRIS.

Simpson, who recently split from her husband NICK LACHEY, made no secret of working hard on boosting her behind for her role as DAISY DUKE in the recent DUKES OF HAZZARD remake, but her efforts have failed to impress Ludacris.

He tells MTV's TRL, "Jessica Simpson is flawless except for one thing - I would get her a bunch of little butt shots. She needs the injections in the behind."

He adds, "Okay, I take it back, she need a new man for Christmas. I'm a Jessica Simpson fan, don't take it the wrong way at all."

10 Dec 2005  -  Jessica Simpson Hires Aniston's Divorce Attorney
To be honest, we really care about as much about Jessica Simpson's divorce attorney as we do about who won the Miss World pageant (yeah, it was Miss Iceland, whoopee!), but hey, it's a slow news day.

So, Simpson has apparently hired the same high-powered (read: evil and lacking all vestiges of morality) divorce lawyer who repped Jennifer Aniston in her split from Brad Pitt, Robert Kaufman, to represent her in severing her marriage to Nick Lachey. Ha, ha - we're sure you are really a nice person (at least as nice as any attorney can be) so please don't sue us, Mr. Kaufman!

Moving on from who's repping whom in what we bet is going to turn into a really nasty divorce behind-the-scenes, let's think about something cheerier instead, like who Simpson and Lachey should hook up with once their divorce is final. My suggestions for Lachey: Britney Spears (hey, she's bound to dump that loser Federline eventually, right?), newly split Christina Applegate (wouldn't they be so cute together?), Halle Berry (she could really use a nice guy) or, perhaps even Mariah Carey (great PR for both of them, she's on a comeback path, and they could record a duet!).

For Simpson, might we suggest Owen Wilson (we don't like him all that much, but hey, lots of girls seem to think he's cute), Kid Rock, or, my favorite pick, Eminem. Sure, he's supposedly reconciling with his on-again-off-again wife, but how long is that going to last, really? He'll be free by the the time the ink is dry on Simpson's divorce papers. Wouldn't you love to see a reality show featuring the first year of a Jessica Simpson-Eminem union? How long do you think it would take before Eminem would lose it and yell "Damn, b****! Shut the f*** up!" I'd give him two months, tops.

10 Dec 2005  -  Cameras To Follow Single Jessica Simpson?
Jessica Simpson is considering signing up for a reality show which would follow her life as a single woman.

The actress, who ended her three-year marriage to Nick Lachey last month, believes that the MTV programme would help her to get through the split.

A source told the Daily Star, "Her fans saw every moment of her marriage in Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, so it makes sense that they should see the aftermath."

08 Dec 2005  -  Nick And Jessica's Broken Record
Eleven days have passed since the news broke that Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson are going their separate ways.

The not-so-stunning end to their three-year marriage comes after more than a year of breakup rumors.

As the no-longer "Newlyweds" try to forge ahead - Nick's WB sitcom pilot, about a baseball star whose marriage comes under constant scrutiny, now has "Mad About You" co-creator Danny Jacobson onboard as a writer; Jessica is working on her fourth album, "And the Band Plays On" - The Mix looks back at a year's worth of denials.

For those who would like to remember the good times, the DVD of the third (and final) season of "Newlyweds" reaches stores Tuesday.

Jessica in the current issue of Teen People: "Hopefully mine and Nick's story will continue for the rest of our lives, like what we vowed, through sickness and in health."

Jessica in OK! magazine's Oct. 10 issue: "Yes, we're married and we love each other." As for why she wasn't wearing her engagement ring, "I don't need diamonds on my finger to show that I love my husband."

Nick and Jessica's publicists in response to October tabloid reports of marital demise: "Nick and Jessica have not separated. Rumors to the contrary are simply not true."

Nick while co-hosting "Live With Regis and Kelly": Everything is "absolutely wonderful."

Jessica denying rumors of an affair with "Dukes of Hazzard" co-star Johnny Knoxville: "My husband was on the set for a month and a half. It would have been impossible. You take the rumors in stride. But now I make it a point of never going out without my wedding ring."

Jessica after reports that Nick was seen with other women at the Super Bowl: "I trust Nick totally, and he trusts me."

Jessica after another slew of reports about an imminent breakup: "Our relationship is better than it's ever been. We are absolutely not breaking up."

Jessica after the first slew of reports came out around Thanksgiving 2004: "It makes me angry that my whole family has to read it and question Nick and I. We were at home for Thanksgiving, and we got to clear everything up. It's just weird, it's so fabricated, it's coming from nowhere. ... But Nick and I are definitely in love."

The final statement on the marriage: "After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways. This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other."

Jessica Simpson is wasting no time moving on after the break-up of her marriage to Nick Lachey - she's house-hunting in New York City.

The Dukes Of Hazzard star, who is fighting a divorce battle with her ex, has no plans to return to the couple's Calabasas, California home, where Lachey is living alone.

08 Dec 2005  -  Simpson Family Says Jessica's Holding Up Since Split
Jessica Simpson's family said the singer is holding up well since her marriage to Nick Lachey broke up the night before Thanksgiving.

Both her father and her sister told "Inside Edition" that Simpson will get through this.

Ashlee Simpson said, "it's definitely difficult," but she said they try to ignore the media stories about it.

Joe Simpson said, "you never are prepared for things when dreams don't come true the way you want them to."

However, he denied reports that the marriage ended partly because he didn't like Lachey.

"I will always love Nick," Joe Simpson said.

05 Dec 2005  -  Jessica Finds Comfort In Jackass
Jessica Simpson has reportedly turned to Johnny Knoxville for support since her split from husband Nick Lachey. The beautiful blonde has been comforted by her gorgeous Dukes of Hazzard
co-star since her public split from singer Nick.

A source said: "There has been no shortage of shoulders for Jess to cry on. Lots of friends - both male and female - have rallied round. But Johnny has been one of the most supportive."

But despite his compassion for the singer turned actress, sources insist the Jackass star and Jessica are just good friends. A source is quoted by Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "There's nothing going
between them. Johnny is a happily married man who just feels very protective of Jess and what she is having to go through at the moment."

Jessica married Nick in 2002 and the pair went on to star in their own reality TV show Newlyweds - which followed the trials and tribulations of the couple.

The pair had been at the centre of endless break-up rumours over the last six months and finally announced they were splitting last week. They said in a statement: "After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways.

"This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

02 Dec 2005  -  Simpson Name Battle
HOLLYWOOD - Jessica Simpson's name is being dragged through the courts as two companies battle over cash earned from her branding rights.

The Dukes of Hazzard actress sold the rights to her name for a staggering $10 million last year to Andrew Kirplani who promised to launch lines in children's clothes, accessories, sportswear and jewelry. But the tycoon set up Jessica Simpson Brand Management, only to pass the rights on for an inflated $15 million.

Icon Licensing Group LLC—a company which markets celebrity names—has now filed papers against Kirplani's company claiming it is owed a minimum of $180,000 commission for a deal it set up shortly before the name was sold on.

Icon's attorney Robert Schachter says, "My client was responsible for introducing the buyer to the seller."

02 Dec 2005  -  Company Marketing Jessica Simpson's Name Sued
Jessica Simpson has branded sister Ashlee "stupid" after she allegedly almost burnt her house down.

The sexy star was overheard bitching about her younger pop star sister to her mother, Tina, at a recent awards show, in New York.

According to America's New York Post newspaper, as she walked down the red carpet, Jessica was overheard saying: "Mum, Ashlee is so stupid. She left the popcorn in the microwave and almost burned the house down."

The 'Dukes Of Hazzard' beauty has also been voicing her concern about Ashlee's wild partying.

Jessica, whose marriage to Nick Lachey is reportedly on the rocks, is worried her younger sibling is going out too much and wants her to slow down for the sake of her career.

Last month, Ashlee was spotted smooching with two mystery men on the same night.

The sexy singer was celebrating the launch of her new album 'I Am Me' at exclusive New York bar the PM Lounge when she was seen getting frisky with the pair of hunks.

According to reports, Ashlee was canoodling with one guy earlier in the evening, before moving on to her second conquest later in the night.

01 Dec 2005  -  Jessica Simpson Dumped Husband Over Email
Jessica Simpson reportedly dumped husband Nick Lachey in an email.

The blonde star allegedly typed her singer husband a note to tell him she was going public over their split.

The handsome star didn't know what the actress was planning until the message appeared on his mobile phone.

A source is quoted in America's Us Weekly magazine as saying: "She had had enough of the marriage and the fighting. She just wanted it to be over."

Another source told the magazine 32-year-old Nick was distraught.

The insider claimed: "He feels like he was sucker-punched. He wasn't even expecting it.

"He was devastated."

The 'Newlyweds' stars later released a joint statement confirming they were splitting after three years of marriage.

It said: "After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

Lachey reportedly asked, "Isn't this worth fixing?" -- and she reportedly answered, "No."
